International Surfing Day will take place on Sunday, June 23rd. With temperatures soaring the beach is the perfect place to spend the day. This year we celebrate ISD in Milford, CT.
The day will include: Horseshoe Crab Tagging to help Sacred Heart University’s Project Limulus; Surf and SUP lessons/demos; surf bands 9th Wave, Go-go dancers and, as always, the Surfrider crew will have games, giveaways, educational materials, and a beach clean-up!
It all starts at 11:30 a.m. – hope to see you on the beach!
This year we have added a 6-mile elite course to the event, along with the 3-mile recreational race, and a 1-mile non-competitive “fun paddle.” Prizes will be awarded based on board size, gender, and age. In addition, the day will include a raffle, beach clean-up, music, games, and much, much, more!
The cost is $60 for the elite race, $50 for the rec, and $25 for the fun paddle. If you’d like to join us as a spectator, food and the raffle will be available for $10. All proceeds will be used to benefit programs that protect and restore CT’s waters and beaches.
This year we have a great group of sponsors and vendors supporting our event including: Action Sports of Old Saybrook, Aina Clothing, Alue Optics, Cape Cod Paddle, Collinsville Canoe & Kayak, F & P Construction, Gabby and Laird, Love Bottle, Ola! Natural Granola, Patagonia, The Stand Juice Company, STOKE Radio, Sun Bum Sun Care, Sweet Waterwear, Vertical Oar, Wavezcap, Whaletail Paddling, whatSUP CT, and the Whey Station Food Truck.
